“My Choice, My Life”

Bismillah.

As we delve deeper into Fiqh-ul-Quloob and as my weak pen pauses on the paper and as my words and writing style is exhausted, there is only one thing that comes to my mind,

Say, “if the ocean were to be ink for (writing) the Words of my Rabb, the ocean would have been consumed before the Words of my Rabb are exhausted, even though we were to bring another (ocean) like it in addition” (Al-Kahf 109)

He is so Beautiful! He is so Great! Words just can’t do justice to His praise. And yet, words is all we have. Because if we don’t read or write about Him, how will we get to know Him? Can you have feelings for someone or be close to someone or trust someone if you don’t even know them? Of course not!

So get to know Allah the way He has told about Himself through the Quran and through our beloved Prophet’s (ﷺ) words as the main source.

فعلى المسلم أن يعلم أن الله يهدي من يشاء، ويضل من يشاء، ويبتلي من يشاء، ويفتن من يشاء بما شاء، وهو الحكيم العليم

[Roughly translated:] So it is upon the Muslim that he knows that Allah guides whomever He wills, and He leads astray whomever He wills, and He tests whomever He wills, and He puts in trial whomever He wills with whatever He wills, and He is All-Wise, All-Knowing.

He does whatever He wants! Why? Because He has all the Majesty and He can do it. However, He is not unjust or unfair, He has all the wisdom too in addition to the power. And He knows the situation of everyone inside out. Tests will come, no matter what.

We commonly say, “you don’t know what I’m going through” and it’s true, you really don’t. You can’t go inside someone’s heart, no matter how close you are to them and get to know each subtle detail of their conscious, subconscious and unconscious. To be sure the person himself doesn’t know exactly what’s in his heart, but Allah does!

Similarly, we say, “I’m telling you what’s best for you” but we actually don’t know if it’s best for that person or not. That is just our thinking. We have a 99% chance of being wrong. He, Allah, actually does know what’s best for you.

Based on His these two attributes (and others not discussed here), His all-encompassing knowledge and wisdom, He makes decisions for you. So you need to trust Him that He is doing the right thing for you. In fact, He is the only one who is doing the right thing for you. You should be grateful. Seriously, Alhamdulillah that Allah makes my decisions and not humans as they would have erred in my fate every step of the way.

So now that you know He is not unfair, you need to trust Him and then know,

[Roughly translated:] And Allah, Glorified be He, is the Owner, who does whatever He wants, and gives his sovereignty to whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills, and leads astray whomever He wills, and honours whomever He wills, and humiliates whomever He wills.

Say, “O Allah, Owner of Sovereignty, You give sovereignty to whom You will and You take sovereignty away from whom You will. You honor whom You will and You humble whom You will. In Your hand is [all] good. Indeed, You are over all things competent. (Al-i-Imran 26)

And Allah the Almighty is the Ever-Living, He gives life and death, and He provides for whomever He wills, and He enriches whomever He wills, and He impoverishes whomever He wills, and He sets seal upon hearts of whomever He wills, and He sets seal upon hearts of whomever He wills.

We’re basically just like helpless puppets, yet we’re complaining uselessly all the time. If we know that He does whatever, however and whenever He wants, then we need to leave things to Him and be in peace. Obey Him, turn to Him, make dua to Him, trust Him and then just be peaceful. What’s written for me, will come to me. What’s not for me, no point whining about it. Whatever the situation, whatever the time, He knows and is planning for me.

That’s a burden off your shoulders, without the extra charges of a massage! ;)

Wassalam.

P.S. There are ways of inviting His mercy and extra blessings. You can use those for bonus points.
Search those ways as your homework. :P

Okay, here’s a hint: enter “mercy” in the search space on the blog’s homepage.

  1. I was delighted to know that even today some bloggers are using pen to write:
when you said “my weak pen pauses on the paper and as my words and writing style is exhausted…”
    Jazakillaahu Khayra.

Say your heart out!
