About Eyes
By Naheed Sattar
Would you still not say:
Activity:
Do you want to preserve your eyes forever and ever and never let it die even when you are not in this world? Is that possible?
Certainly, but you need to do something.
- Look at the beautiful creation around you , appreciate it and recognize the greatness of Allah swt and say Alhamduli Allah
- Read the words of Allah, memorize them, understand them and preserve them in your heart.
- Stay away from watching anything that has no benefit in dunya and Akhirah. Do not waste the light of your eyes for things that will take you away from your Creator.
- Let your eyes speak good about you on the Day of Judgement, let them witness for you and not against you.
And make Salah the coolness of your eyes. And let this coolness be permanent.

What Weakness of Faith Leads to..
Bismillah.
This is from Sub-Chapter 3 [Fiqh-u Qudrat-ir-Rabb: Fiqh of the Power of ar-Rabb (The Master)] of Chapter 1 of the book.
[Roughly translated]: “And because of weakness of faith and certainty, three calamities have struck us:
First: We’re impressed by the power of creation, and we’ve started to fear it and (seek) hope from it , so Allah has humiliated us with it.
Second: We knock on the door of creation for help each day although it does not hold for itself, nor for (anyone) other than it, any benefit nor any harm.
Third: We have turned away form the Creator, the Owner of everything, so neither do we (seek) hope from Him, nor do we fear Him. And we don’t stand at His door or obey (be steadfast on) His commands.
So how can we benefit from His Power/Might and how can we benefit from His treasures while this is our state?
Indeed, that is not obtained except with the perfection of faith and taqwa (Allah-consciousness). “
An interesting way to understand these words would be to examine yourself for the symptoms of weak faith. Let’s do this exercise together.
First: We’re impressed by the power of creation, and we’ve started to fear it and (seek) hope from it , so Allah has humiliated us with it.
What am I impressed by? Allah’s creativity or man’s?
What seems more powerful to me? Allah’s forces of the unseen or the US president along with his armies?
What do I fear more? A friend thinking of me as a bad person or Allah’s opinion about me when I sin in private?
What gives me more hope? Allah’s promise for help if I do sabr (patience) or a human saying they’ll make everything alright?
Second: We knock on the door of creation for help each day although it does not hold for itself, nor for (anyone) other than it, any benefit nor any harm.
What’s the first thing I do when I need help? Call Mom (or any other human being) or Allah?
Whom do I really think can solve my problems better? Me/Mom/Friend or Allah?
Third: We have turned away form the Creator, the Owner of everything, so neither do we (seek) hope from Him, nor do we fear Him. And we don’t stand at His door or obey (be steadfast on) His commands.
Am I obedient of my Lord? Do I fulfill all His commandments concerning me? Am I steadfast?
Do I keep my hopes only from Him?
Do I fear only Him?
Or have I turned away from all that He said and asked of me? Have I given up on Him? Have I despaired?
More than anything else, I hope you got all the answers ‘right’. Because otherwise, your faith is weak. Faith in Allah and His Power. Faith in what He is and what He ordains. Faith in all that’s good.
The solution is to perfect your faith, to have certainty. Trust Allah blindly, as they say – more than your soul. Do as He says, even if He asks you to jump in a well (which He won’t – just saying!). Obey Him as much as you can and believe that it’s for nothing but YOUR good. Do all that and then ask your heart this question: “how you doin’?”
I’m sure the answer will please you. :)
How We Treat Allah
Bismillah.
This is from Sub-Chapter 2 [Fiqh-u `Adhamat-ir-Rabb: Fiqh of the Grandeur of ar-Rabb (The Master)] of Chapter 1 of the book.
[Roughly translated:] “And he did not value Allah as he should have, one who treats the people in the best way he can, and treats Allah with the least of what he can (or has). If he stands in servitude to the one he loves from the men, he stands with earnestness, diligence and excellence. And if he stands to fulfill the right of his Lord, he stands with a standing that would not please even a creation like him. And he spends for Allah from his wealth what he would be ashamed to spend for others.”
Is it not true? No matter how much we claim to love Allah the ‘most’, we always fall short in doing the ‘best’ for Him. There’s always someone or something more important than Him. There’s always someone or something that needs our wealth/attention/servitude more than Him. Astaghfirullah.
Power of Creator vs. Power of Creation
Assalamu’alaykum,
Bismillah.
In our everyday life we come across many forces and powers (man-made) and we get impressed by them but there is another power (power of God) that is even more powerful and we come across it more often than the previous one, in fact it stays with us all the time, yet we ignore it.
إن الناس عندهم قوة المصنوعات، والله عنده قوة المخلوقات، وقوة المخلوقات التي خلقها الله أقوى وأشد من قوة المصنوعات التي صنعها البشر
[Roughly translated:] The people have power of the man-made things and Allah has power of the creation. And the power of creation that has been created by Allah is more stronger and more intense than the power of man-made things that has been manufactured by man…
To understand the power of man-made things, let’s first look at what are the man-made things. Some of the greatest inventions of man include electricity, computer technology, vehicles of transportation, weapons of war etc.
As for the creation, it includes human beings, angels, jinn, mountains, trees, lands, oceans, winds, galaxies etc.
Power of Man-Made Things vs. Power of Creation
I’d been wanting to write a comparison of the power of man-made things and creation. Though I’m not sharing hard facts with references for now, in my search I learned a number of things that I’m sharing here.
- Man-made Electricity vs. Lightning
Electricity was not properly discovered for human use until 1600. Even today, the most strongest of flashlights can reach up to 10 miles. A new light bulb has been unveiled in the US that, if used for 3 hours daily, can have a life of about 27 years.
Lightning is a phenomenon that scientists have not been able to fully discover up till today. It occurs approximately 40–50 times a second worldwide, resulting in nearly 1.4 billion flashes per year.
In 15 minutes, the sun radiates as much energy onto our globe as humans use during an entire year.
Fireflies produce light using chemical energy from their food. The light they give off is more efficient than that of a light bulb. Fireflies lose only 1/15 of their energy to heat, whereas 95% of the energy used by an ordinary light bulb is wasted as heat energy. Some deep-sea squids and glowworms in caves also change the chemical energy from food into light.
- Roof vs. Sky
When a roof has to be put on a building, a number of things have to be considered. The material being used, how much is it weather, wind, fire resistant. Most roof owners need insurance of their roofs and their roofs are tested for their claims. A good roof needs the appropriate nails, screws, rivets and adhesives. Roofs are made in an area keeping the climate of that region in mind. A water drainage system has to be added which adds to the cost as well. In factories, a chemical resistant layer has to be applied on the roofs too. And then the paint and pattern of the ceiling gets boring after a while and has to be changed. Interestingly, a lot of people are opting for their ceiling to have a pattern that makes it look like the sky.
The sky. Needs no nails, screws, pillars, drainage systems, insurance. No different material for different climates, it’s the same all over. You never get bored of it. It changes colors by itself. Never fear that it’ll fall over you. No limited life span. Never does the paint peel off. Never do you see a hole. SubhanAllah!
- Air Conditioning vs. Fresh Air
Cool air of an air conditioner and the natural cool breeze. Well! Do I even need to give a comparison? Just go out at Fajr time and feel the breeze. No comparison! Guaranteed. Experience it and comment below.
Air conditioning can cause asthma attacks, chest tightness and a runny nose in office workers, according to new research. The study of 770 office staff found people working in air-conditioned offices are almost two-and-a-half times more likely to suffer from respiratory infections than those in naturally ventilated buildings.
Air conditioners in large buildings can pose a more serious threat because they use reservoirs of water that can harbor harmful bacteria. When Legionnaires’ disease struck a an American Legion convention in Philadelphia in 1976, epidemiologists found colonies of the deadly Legionella pneutnophila bacterium in the air circulated by the hotel’s air-conditioning system. Other organisms that grow in large air-conditioning units can trigger hypersensitivity pneumonitis, also called allergic alveolitis. The condition is caused by inhaling microscopic organic dusts, which inflame the air sacs of the lungs and can eventually interfere with normal breathing.
Fresh air purifies the blood, imparts to it a bright color, and sends the blood, a life-giving current, to every part of the body. It soothes the nerves, stimulates appetite, helps digestion, and induces sound, refreshing sleep. It invigorates the vital organs and aids the system in getting rid of an accumulation of impurities. Pure air brings life to the skin, as for a lack of air the skin nearly dies. It has a decided influence on the mind, imparting a degree of composure and serenity. Fresh air, especially when we exercise, will stimulate our appetite, and greatly aid and improve digestion of food.
Some specific problems that are greatly benefited by having an abundance of fresh air are fevers, colds and lung disease. Research shows that fresh air “helps keep our moods buoyant and positive.” Interaction with nature reduces depression, promotes healing and sparks creativity. It even increases life expectancy by about 15 percent over 5 years, according to one Japanese study.
- Man-Made Factories vs. Factories in Nature
Factories that manufacture various things for our benefit are full of health hazards. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), it has been estimated that industrial pollution is responsible for almost 50 percent of the pollution present in the United States.
Global warming due to release of CO2 and methane (CH4) is one of the most common and serious consequences of industrial pollution and has serious hazards. It results in melting of glaciers and snow-capped mountains, causing an increase of the water levels in seas and rivers, thereby increasing the chances of flood. Also, it increases risk of diseases such as malaria and dengue, cholera, Lyme disease and plague, among others.
The emissions from various industries contain large amounts of gases such as carbon dioxide, sulphur and nitrogen, among others. These gases, when present in elevated levels in the atmosphere, often result in various environmental and health hazards such as acid rain, and various skin disorders in individuals. Water pollution as a result of factories results in the death of various animal and plant species present in the water. Industrial wastes pollute the soil such that they reduce plant growth.
As for factories of nature, cattle is an example. Their flesh can be eaten as meat. Their milk can be drank and turned into cheese and yogurt. Their skin can be used as leather, clothing, shoes and belts. They can pull carts and plows. They can make the power to turn flour mills or pump water. The food that they eat is not expensive, and often not in competition with what people eat. They look beautiful in a green field. They are meek and submissive, do not pounce on you when you go to milk them.
Glory be to the Creator! How do people not believe in Him? How do they not obey Him? Humans are the best of creation and still we’re so weak. Don’t we realize that the perfection of all powers is in some Hands unseen and the Most Powerful? Indeed, Allah is the Greatest!
Wassalam.
